Through Maximizing Enrollment, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Academy for State Health Policy partnered to assist states to better understand the strategies needed to build and maintain more efficient and effective health coverage enrollment systems, policies and procedures. The goals of the program included:

  • Increase enrollment of eligible individuals and families
  • Ready enrollment systems for 2014
  • Share models, lessons and promising practices that worked to increase enrollment and retention
  • Document and evaluate what was learned

 

To achieve these goals, the program included:

  • A standard diagnostic assessment of participating states’ enrollment and retention systems, policies and procedures
  • Individualized technical assistance to help states develop and implement plans to improve systems, polices and procedures in order to increase enrollment and retention of eligible individuals
  • Peer-to-peer learning among participating states to share information regarding challenges and effective strategies with each other and other states
